What a Sage Intacct implementation actually costs in ZAR
Sage Intacct's pricing is enterprise software pricing, which means it is rarely obvious from the website. This is what an SA mid-market organisation should expect to pay — for licensing, implementation, and ongoing support — in ZAR.

Sage Intacct is enterprise-grade financial software, and enterprise-grade software is priced accordingly. For South African mid-market organisations approaching the decision, the question is rarely 'is it expensive?' — it is 'is it the right price for the value we'd get?' This article gives honest ZAR ranges for a typical engagement.
Bo Gartner quotes are always fixed-price per phase, with the licensing handled directly with Sage. The ranges below are indicative; your actual figures depend on the scope.
Annual Sage Intacct licensing
Sage Intacct is licensed annually, priced on (a) the modules you take and (b) the number of business users. Modules include the core General Ledger plus optional modules — AP, AR, Project Accounting, Revenue Management, Inventory, Fixed Assets, Multi-Entity, Multi-Currency, Time & Expense, Budgeting & Planning, and others.
Typical annual licensing ranges for SA mid-market customers:
- Single-entity, 5–10 users, core modules: ~R250k–R400k per year.
- Multi-entity (3–5 entities), 10–20 users, multi-currency, full module set: ~R400k–R700k per year.
- Larger group (10+ entities), 25+ users, with revenue management, project accounting, planning: ~R700k+ per year.
Sage Intacct's per-user pricing differentiates between full business users (people who post transactions) and view-only users (people who only consume reports). The latter is significantly cheaper, so most organisations end up with 5–15 business users and a larger pool of view-only users.
Implementation services (Bo Gartner)
Implementation is fixed-price by phase. Typical scopes for SA clients:
- Single-entity, 8-week implementation, standard modules: ~R350k–R500k.
- Multi-entity, 12-week implementation, multi-currency, 2–3 integrations: ~R600k–R900k.
- Larger group, 16-week implementation, complex integrations, revenue management, planning: ~R900k–R1.2m+.
This includes Discover, Configure, Migrate, Validate, cut-over, and 90 days of Hypercare. Integrations are scoped separately.
Integrations
Each integration is scoped on its complexity. Indicative ZAR figures:
- Payroll (SimplePay, PaySpace, Sage 300 People): R30k–R80k.
- Bank statement import + payment file generation (FNB, Standard Bank, Nedbank, Absa): R50k–R100k.
- Salesforce or HubSpot CRM: R80k–R200k.
- Stripe / Paystack / Yoco: R40k–R80k.
- Bespoke integration (custom REST/SOAP): R100k–R250k+, depending on complexity.
Ongoing managed support
Post go-live, Bo Gartner's managed support packages cover named-consultant support, close-cycle SLA, quarterly health checks, and year-end audit support. Typical monthly retainer:
- Light support (single entity, mature finance team): R10k–R20k per month.
- Standard support (multi-entity, monthly close support, ongoing optimisation): R20k–R40k per month.
- Premium (multi-entity, high-volume, integrations-heavy, daily-touch finance team): R40k+ per month.
The total-cost-of-ownership question
For an SA mid-market organisation, total Sage Intacct cost over five years (licensing + implementation + integrations + managed support) typically runs in the R3m–R10m range, depending heavily on scope. That sounds large until it is set against the comparable five-year cost of: a Pastel deployment plus the finance team time spent on workarounds and spreadsheets, plus the audit overhead, plus the missed insights and slow decisions. In most cases the math comes out favourably for Sage Intacct from year two onwards.

For a typical South African mid-market customer, annual Sage Intacct licensing falls between R250,000 and R800,000 per year. The lower end is single-entity with core modules and 5–10 users; the upper end is multi-entity with full module set and 20+ users. Larger groups can exceed R1 million annually.
Bo Gartner's implementation services typically run R350,000 to R1.2 million, depending on scope. The lower end is a single-entity, 8-week implementation; the upper end is a multi-entity group with multi-currency, integrations, and a 16-week timeline. We provide a fixed-price quote in the first week of Discover.
Managed support post go-live typically runs R10,000 to R40,000 per month. The variable is touch — single-entity organisations with mature finance teams and low-volume operations sit at the lower end; multi-entity organisations with monthly close support, integrations, and frequent change sit at the upper end.
The two costs people sometimes miss: integrations (which are quoted per integration; each one is typically R30,000–R250,000 depending on complexity) and the time of your own finance team during implementation (typically 25–40% of one or two senior people's time over the 8–14 week engagement). Both are predictable; we surface them during Discover.
Sage Intacct offers preferential pricing for verified non-profits through its partner programme. Discounts vary by jurisdiction and verified status; we work through Sage's NPO programme for qualifying organisations during the Discover phase.
