Professional standards
Ethics policy
The standards we hold ourselves to as consultants, as a Sage Intacct Premier Partner, and as a South African firm engaging with finance teams handling confidential information.
Client confidentiality
Everything we see during an engagement — the chart of accounts, the customer list, the transactional history, the management accounts, the audit work papers — is confidential. We do not publish, share, or refer to client data without explicit written consent. Where a client gives consent for a published success story, we still treat any data beyond the agreed scope as confidential.
Conflicts of interest
We disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest at the start of an engagement and on an ongoing basis if they arise. Where a conflict cannot be resolved, we decline the engagement.
- We will not implement Sage Intacct for two direct competitors simultaneously without disclosure to both.
- We will not accept commissions or kickbacks from third-party integration vendors that influence our recommendation to a client.
- Where Bo Gartner has a financial relationship with a vendor whose product we recommend (other than Sage itself), we disclose the relationship in writing.
Regulatory compliance
We operate under South African law, including the Companies Act 2008, the Protection of Personal Information Act 2013 (POPIA), the Financial Intelligence Centre Act 2001 (FICA), and the relevant SARS tax legislation. Bo Gartner does not provide audit attestation or statutory tax services; where engagements touch those areas, we work alongside the client's appointed auditor and tax adviser.
Data handling and POPIA
We process personal information about client staff and counterparties only as necessary for the engagement, only in line with our agreed scope, and only with appropriate access controls. We retain client data for the period agreed in the engagement letter and destroy or return it on conclusion. Bo Gartner's information officer can be contacted at info@bogartner.com.
Engagement standards
- Every engagement begins with a written scope, deliverables, and price. We do not run engagements on verbal scope alone.
- Where scope changes during an engagement, we surface the change in writing, quote the impact on price and timeline, and seek written approval before proceeding.
- Where we are wrong about something — a configuration recommendation, a timeline, a cost estimate — we say so directly, in writing, and propose remediation.
Partner programme conduct
Bo Gartner participates in the Sage Intacct partner programme. We use the Sage Intacct brand, marks, and product language in line with Sage's partner programme guidelines. We do not misrepresent our partnership tier, certifications, or standing with Sage.
Reporting concerns
If anyone — client, candidate, supplier, member of the public — has an ethics concern about Bo Gartner's conduct, please email info@bogartner.com with the subject "Ethics concern". The matter is handled by a senior partner outside the client engagement involved.
Last updated: 2026-05-23. The policy is reviewed annually and on material change to regulation or our partnership status.
